'Pond Clearing'
A working party met at the pond in the Wildlife Area on 27th September.
Under the direction of Roy Johnson and Nigel Emmerson the pond was dredged to reduce the amount of pond weed.
'Summer Picnic + BBQ - July 2008'
The annual Summer Picnic and BBQ was held on a dry but chilly Sunday - it was good to welcome some 'first-timers' as well as catching up with old friends and neighbours.
The BBQ's proved doubly useful when it came to keeping warm under a cloudy sky.
'Woodland Path'
The Association is grateful to Surrey County Council for the grant received from the Local Committee's Members' allocation.
The Parish contractor was engaged to bring on to site 'road planings' (recycled metalling) to significantly raise the profile of the path passing through the wooded area. In addition to redressing the original route a culvert was installed under the eastern end of the path. This action has already assisted in the drainage of the adjacent meadow. Visitors to the site can now take advantage of a better defined route through the wooded area.
'Barn Dance - January 2008'
Over 100 dancers of all ages (and abilities) enjoyed an energetic evening dancing to the music of Rogues Gallery, led by caller Tony Kelly. More photos can be found on his own website www.tonykelly.org
That the event also raised over £500 for the Association's funds put the 'icing on the cake'!

The Wildlife Area is an ideal place for families to visit and have picnics. Running a wildlife area inevitably involves a delicate balance of priorities - protecting and encouraging wildlife and also providing an area which gives pleasure to visitors and residents alike. Most of these are reflected in our Fox Corner Country Code.
Dogs are a particular issue. If uncontrolled, they can alarm wildlife, disturb nests and leave unwelcome excrement anywhere on the site. Groups of children are encouraged to visit to enjoy pond-dipping and mini-beast hunts. For their sake, it is vital that they do not come into contact with the results of dog-fouling. At one stage, we felt that it would be a good idea to ban dogs altogether but after representations from local people, agreed that they could be allowed but strictly only on leads.
We respectfully, but firmly, ask you to abide by this particular rule.
